Summertime is all about island scents and refreshing yourself. I find there`s nothing better than after being out all day in the heat, taking a nice long relaxing shower using a refreshing scented body wash to get all cleaned up and relaxed. To me, if it doesn`t have a smell or it doesn`t smell good, then I don`t feel clean. It`s as simple as that. Well to help us feel a bit more refreshed this summer, Softsoap was kind enough to send me a few of their limited edition body washes to try and they`re also offering one to a lucky reader of mine as well! 

 

Softsoap is the trade name of Colgate-Palmolive`s liquid hand soap and body wash. William Sheppard of New York was granted patent number 49,561 for his "Improved Liquid Soap" on August 22, 1865, for his discovery that a small amount of conventional soap could be mixed with large amounts of hartshorn to create a soap with a consistency of molasses. His invention became common in public areas, but could generally not be found in homes. Sometime later, the Minnetonka Corporation began to offer Soap on Tap in attractive ceramic dispensers through boutique distributors. The Minnetonka Corporation was located in Chaska, Minnesota. The product was a success, and the corporation followed up in 1980 with a similar product designed for mass retail sales. They created the Softsoap name and designed a package that included a distinctive custom pump bottle with a cap that obviated the need for a secondary carton to enclose the product. The package made it very easy to spot on store shelves when nearly all other soaps were in bar form. Minnetonka extended their hold on the liquid soap market by buying the entire supply of plastic pumps. In 1987, Colgate-Palmolive purchased the liquid soap business from Minnetonka. 

 

I personally love the Softsoap brand; I always have. I received the Softsoap® Pacific Sunset Refreshing Citrus and Softsoap® Maui Coconut Splash to try out. I found that both smell absolutely wonderful to start off and of course work great. I love not only the scent that they put out but the way they make me feel after using the product. I feel clean and refreshed. I can even smell subtle hints of the fragrance of the soap on my skin. I personally love that the company makes its bottle packages recyclable so they can be re-used or simply sent to the recycling company for future reproductions. While I do find it hard to review much about soap, I can say Softsoap is a brand I do trust and have trusted for years. I use it for myself as well as my whole family; even my parents continue using the Softsoap brand. Their brand is high quality, fairly priced, and easily available at most retail stores nationwide! So obviously I do trust their brand, whether it`s for body wash or the hand soap, they`re definitely a brand I choose to trust and recommend!
