Elderberry Sambucus is the dark purple berry that grows from the European elder tree. Common names for this herb include elder, elderberry, black elder, European elder and European black elderberry. This bountiful herb has been revered in European folk traditions for centuries.

 

Today, the popularity of Elderberry has spread globally. It can be found in various recipes and supplements and possesses a natural sweet and tart flavor.

 

Elderberry makes for a great low-calorie snack that is packed with nutritious goodness. It's rich with many naturally occurring compounds including the following:

 

• 3 1/2 Cups of Water
• 2/3 Cups of Organic Elderberries
• 2 Tbsp of Ginger Root Powder
• 1 Tsp of Organic Cinnamon
• 1/2 Tsp of Ground Cloves
• 1 Cup of Raw Organic Honey

1. Pour water into medium saucepan and add elderberries, ginger, cinnamon and cloves.
2. Bring to a boil and then cover and reduce to a simmer for about 45-60 minutes.
3. Remove from heat and let cool for 5-10 minutes.
4. Mash and stir berries using spoon or flat utensil.
5. Pour through a strainer to filter out elderberry skins.
6. Discard the elderberries and let cool until lukewarm.
7. Add honey and stir 5 minutes until smooth.
8. Pour into mason jar or glass bottle and store in the refrigerator.
