So a couple weeks ago we brought Sophia for a "field trip" to the
Global Wild Life Center in Folsom, Louisiana and took a Private Tour for just the 3 of us. We left Jace with the grandparents since it`s quite hot and well he just wasn`t ready for this trip just yet.
The private tour costs $35 per person, but you have to pay for a minimum of 4. This is just for the tour. The food is $2 per cup or $30 for a bucket. Well I knew a cup wasn`t going to work so we went for the bucket - which ended up being just the right amount for us to feed the animals. The Global Wild Life Center is basically a place you can go and take a tour to feed the animals on the 900 acre land. We had a friendly tour guide who told us which animals were what and let us know if there was anything specific we wanted to see to let her know - the tour was about us and she made that clear.
The difference between the private tour and wagon tour is that the private tour you`re with just your family or group (up to 9 people) and can go off the trail and get up and personal with the animals. A wagon tour is just a general tour with a bunch of people and you have to stay on the trail as it can`t handle going off the trail safely. The tour is an hour long and you can feed all the animals with your cup or by hand with the exception of the zebras.
This is because the zebras have upper and lower teeth like us humans and can bite you. So beware of the crazy zebras! While it was expensive it was very fun. Also, we were expecting to be extremely hot, but it wasn`t bad at all - and it was in the 90`s that day! When you`re driving along in the private tour you can go quite a bit faster than in a wagon and you get plenty of air. So we didn`t sweat the whole ride, only when we got off for the walk back to the car! As I said, the trip was expensive, at least for our budget, but it was well worth it.
The money goes to a good cause for the animals, it`s educational, fun, and most importantly Sophia had a blast. If you`re ever in the area I definitely recommend checking it. Take the private tour! You won`t regret it!!
