(From September 2012) Since we`ve been addicted to watching HGTV we began doing updates. Mostly small simple things to our house since we do have a small budget. The newest one is the master bath. We have a small bathroom, really no space for anything, but the garden tub is awesome. It`s not fully done though, we still have some things to do to it. We still need to do some touch up paint jobs plus find a matching faucet for the bathtub to get it where we want it. We also want to change out the light fixture to match the rest of the item, but uses regular light bulbs. It`s a bit of a challenge with our budget and the style we want, but I`m sure we`ll find one eventually! Maybe even change out the bathroom door to something cool? But basically we bought a Bamboo Style Facet for the sink. We still need to change the counter top or fill in the little holes from the original faucet so that`s still a bit of a work in progress. We stained the vanity cabinet with mahogany wood stain. We added antique brass handles to our cabinet. My husband surprised me and replaced our overhead toilet cabinet with the one pictured. It`s larger and has mirrors and more space! Also what`s unique is he took an oil brass towel rack and hung it under the cabinet so I could have a rack to hang my clothes on. I particularly like to hang my PJs there rather than just throwing them on the bed or the floor.
Another thing you may notice on the cabinet are the antique brass leaf knobs we added on. We want to stick with the "bamboo/garden/outdoorsy" feel to it.
Since all that was being changed out we changed our bathroom accessories to match so we now have oil brass toilet paper holder & towel racks as well! To spruce up the walls a bit I used some bathroom shadow box pictures that I found on one of my thrift store trip. I also added in a monogrammed soap dispenser and a sea shell candle holder I found on a thrift store trip as well. Let`s not forget about the oil brass shower head! And last but not least, the outside of our bathroom door has a "Captains Quarters" brass sign on the outside just to add a bit of decor to it. If you remember, I found the sign on a thrift store hunt.
We actually already have the paint to touch up our walls we found on a trip to Home Depot for just $7 for a gallon on clearance because someone decided they didn`t want the color. So we got lucky. Same color, at least for now. So if you have any ideas, links to items, etc. please share them!
