DIY Sugar Scrub

This was originally posted on Piping Rock. All content is theirs.

We all love treats and have our favorites. For some, it’s chocolate. For others, its fruit. There’s no right or wrong pick, honestly, we’d take both and call it a day.  However, when fall comes around there’s one universal treat that everyone seems to enjoy. We’re sure you can guess what that is, since it’s in our title after all: pumpkin spice lattes. These frothy drinks are the perfect balance of sweet and spicy and are inherently tied to the feeling we get with season’s change.

So with the realization that nearly no one can refuse this drink of autumn cheerfulness, we decided to get crafty and create a DIY Sugar Scrub to embrace this favorite.

We bring to you the pumpkin spice latte scrub. Below we review what ingredients are inside this soon-to-be overused exfoliator to entice you to make it even more.

The Essential Oils

The way to get this scrub to smell like pumpkin spice heaven is by use of a few strategically chosen essential oils. After all, they are fall aromatherapy classics! Let’s go through which they are and what they do (outside of smelling terrifical):

Nutmeg 100% Pure Essential Oil:
A rich spicy aroma that is can stimulate the mind.

Cinnamon Bark 100% Pure Essential Oil: A traditional scent best known for evoking feelings of warmth.

Clove 100% Pure Essential Oil: This dark, earthy aroma has bittersweet notes and makes for a great addition to this fall blend for its notable revitalizing qualities for the spirit.

Cardamom 100% Pure Essential Oil: A popular aroma used in perfumes, this oil gives off a zesty and balsamic scent.

Orange Sweet 100% Pure Essential Oil: To bring a bit of citrus base notes to this blend, we added orange. Notable for providing a sense of uplifting to the spirits.

Coconut Sugar

While some scrubs use salt, we opted for sugar. It makes for a smoother exfoliator that is less harsh on the skin. Nonetheless, it’s the ingredient behind helping you get that coveted glow! We chose Organic Coconut Sugar, but you can use whichever sugar you'd like.

Milk

How can you have a latte without milk? We weren’t sure, and that’s why we’ve added some to our scrub. Milk is a natural soother, since it provides a light lathering on the skin. This mixed with the sugar allows for a gentle exfoliation experience that won’t leave your skin overly scrubbed.
