Recently, one topic came up that I thought I should bring to light on the site for those who are new to couponing.
Here`s what the question read:
I am new to couponing and would like to know what you use. Do most of you use a binder? a coupon index? or something else? How do you organize it?
To answer that question I took pics of my current coupon organizer. It`s been a while since I posted on this topic so I guess it`s appropriate to do it again. I personally use an
expanding file folder where I keep the full page inserts and just mark the date on them and keep them in order by date and also in sections by
Red Plum,
SmartSource, P&G and then extras (like from mail or off products). I found this method to be the quickest and easiest for my busy lifestyle.
I have tried the binder and index (card) holder in the past, and while they do work, I find it takes a lot more time to clip and organize coupons. Also, I do a lot of my coupon matchups online which usually refers to the coupons being in a particular newspaper insert. There`s pros & cons to the various ways and I have yet to find the "perfect" way to organize coupons. I love the binder because when it is all organized it`s easy if you`re in the store to just see if you have a coupon for a particular item whereas I have to search through each insert in the same case. When I`m short on time to deal with my coupons it takes only a matter of seconds to mark the date on my inserts and file them away. With the coupon binder, I always found myself leaving all the inserts just on top of it awaiting when I had the time to get around to it. Also, when it comes to pulling expired, I send off my old coupons across seas. The inserts make this process so much easier than having to go through each individual coupon and pull them out the sleeves and in a binder. The list could go on, but at the end of the day, I`m thinking I`ll just stick with the expanding file folder. At least until I have days with nothing at all to do then I can switch back to the binder method.
Now with all that said, I was wondering if it`s just me, or have the coupon deals thinned out a bit? I know for a while they had TONS of deals everywhere. Maybe it`s just I don`t have the time to dig deep and of course, avoid Walmart at all costs these days, but where have all the good deals gone?!
